And Here I am Again….turning my face to the computer…………and writing in the wake of yet another loss of a significant force in the canvas of music we call ” Disco” , Robin Gibb, from one of my favorite groups…the Bee Gees….. I was introduced to their music, through my mother, who as a musician, her love and knowledge for music, especially the era of Disco, was deep…and important to my upbringing…she had a massive record collection that as a child, i was forbidden to touch, let alone play on a record player……..but somehow I managed to anyway…

and as a teenager, somehow she allowed me , to poke through her stacks of records, and 45’s , to discover and connect with these sounds that revolutionized music and dance alike….. This Music Became My Friend on a Soul Level, it became my soundtrack……..It became my story…..

It guided me in the shadows of my life, silently, but profoundly, to my path, in discovery of the culture, and the dance that blossomed and flourished on its canvas…..to find my voice , and my freedom I know, to many I’m young, but I always felt I have an old soul…although I was not physically at studio 54 or Ginos, in my heart I was there…..(or maybe in the past life I was there, and took too many drugs, and alcohol and succombed to my demons, only to decide to come back to dance…lol.) Either way, this revolutionary disco sound was a huge part of my existence…and its heartbeat pulses within my soul….

It pains me to witness, all of these Brilliant, and Revolutionary Artists, Pioneers, Innovators, and Promoters of Dance, to leave us behind……because of what they represented to us….they liberated us, they gave us permission to be ourselves and our own creation, and their message always came back to Love, ….love of music, life, our dance, art , our culture Love for ourselves Their Records werent, merely just music that we collect and throw onto an ipod……like today…they were books,

they were a collection of stories, that were crafted by the finest, artist, producers, singers, musicians on the planet…..and it was just as books, to be passed on …

but somewhere along, as times shifted to a faster  technology and processing, more contained , era for accessing music, a lot of this music was left in the hands of the lovers of the era, but lost to a whole other generation …on a soul level….only to be re – processed and regurgitated ,  and promoted under the guise of Soul, Expression , Art..and Evolution…..with little to NO nutrients ..to sustain …..

As i mentioned before a few months back, with the passing of Don Cornelius, this is a reminder, that we need to continue to remember the essence and the motivation behind what this movement was about, as this list of significant artists from this era tragically continues to grow, we are only left with the shadow of the eclipse of an era, that was the back bone of what/who we were and are…….and our future…

Let’s Keep This Movement Alive„„„and lead with our hearts and lives on the dance floor……

RIP Robin Gibb…Heaven is Jamming Now

And For us who are still here …in Honor of both Donna and Robin,

We should be Dancing !
